Broadway Plax?! Prediction drawing similarities

January 31st, 2008 by Chinedu · 1 Comment

With Super Bowl XLII approaching all the excitement seems to be surrounding wide receiver Plaxico Burress’ prediction that the New York (football) Giants will be victorious with a score of 23-17. Now for those of you that follow football you already know that the Patriots are the first team in NFL history to go 16-0, currently stand at 18-0, and in all likelihood, will finish out 19-0. However, you should also know that second to the Ravens, the Giants gave them the most difficult time of the season in week 17.

Plax’s outburst doesn’t come without rhyme or reason though… Back in the day there was an ol’ drunkard named (Broadway) Joe Namath who lead the other team from New York, The Jets, to an upset victory in Super Bowl III vs (the then) Baltimore Colts. What makes this interesting is that he too predicted an upset victory before the game.

Okay, so maybe Plax is just superstitious! Since Eli Manning didn’t step up and make a prediction he thought it was in the teams best interest that he does. No one stepped up in Super Bowl XXXV when the Giants played the Ravens, and the Giants lost! As far as I’m concerned, guarantee your heart out kid… cause they’re gonna blame the loss on your boy Eli anyhow! And, I kinda don’t see you being the type to do a “that’s my quarterback” T. Owens rendition post game/loss.
