Lil Wayne Carter III (review)

June 16th, 2008 by Chinedu · No Comments

After much anticipation Lil Wayne dropped an official album, Tha Carter III. Overall, in our opinion it fell very short of expectations. Granted, matching the first album of this trilogy, Tha Carter is no easy task. However, just seems like Wayne has spent to much time dropping mixtapes that he failed to dedicate real time to putting out something great. Here is BloggerDummies.com review of Tha Carter III by track:

1. 3Peat - Produced by Maestro… This is a HEATER intro. 4.5/5

2. Mr. Carter - Definite classic record featuring Jay-z. Hook is catchy and lyrics are right on point. 5/5

3. A milli - Produced by bangladesh. This track belongs on a mixtape. Beat is weak/elementary! If you can make it through this whole song without being annoyed, props to you! 2/5

4. Got Money - This track featuring T-Pain is catchy, as is most tracks featuring T-Pain. It’ll be a mainstream hit but we just aren’t feelin’ it. 3/5

5. Comfortable - Produced by Kanye, this track is fire. It SHOULD be a single off his album but we’ll just have to see. 4/5

6. Phone Home - Produced by Cool & Dre (One of our favorites), this track is a decent filler track for an album. 3/5

7. Dr. Carter - We think this track is garbage. Old school beat that we just AREN’T feelin! Belongs on mixtape. 1/5

8. Tie My Hands - Featuring Robin Thicke, this track is smooth as hell. If you liked Shooter you’re gonna like this. 3.5/5

9. Shoot Me Down - This is HEATER. Sounds like a Eminem beat but produced by D. Smith. You can ride to dis! 4/5

10. Playin’ with Fire - Decent song… Album filler. 3/5

11. Lollipop - First Single. This is definite mainstream song but very original from Wayne and catchy as hell. 4.5/5

12. LaLa - This song is garbage. David Banner beat is horrible! Maybe worse song on cd. It’s gonna be one of those songs you either love or hate! 1/5

13. Nothin’ on Me - Produced by Alchemist. The beat is fire, the lyrics are fire… and Fab and Juelz come right on this. Nice beat change up for Wayne’s verse. 4/5

14. Let The Beat Build - Produced by Kanye and Deezle this track could have been a intro song. Decent song, but sounds alot like a mixtape song. 3/5

15. Mrs. Officer - Featuring Bobby Valentino, this song should be released as a single as well. 3.5/5

16. Misunderstood - Lyrically a good song. Although mainly talking over the beat. Calls out some people on this one. 3.5/5
